Ethernet for Commodore 64

Posted By on June 27, 2012

I’ve been wanting to get one of these for a while:

This is the 64NIC+ by Jim Brain (who also did the uIEC). I ordered it with the case option, but it appears I need to fit it to the case manually… Altho it looks sparse on the top, most of the devices are fitted underneath, but I’m not going to take a picture of it.

Here it is plugged into my C128D. I downloaded the C64NIC+.D64 disk image and placed it on my uIEC card. It appears to be a customized version of Contiki. It didn’t work first, because it appears to look for configs on device #8, but the files were on device #10 (the uIEC). So I swapped the device numbers around, but then it wouldn’t load at all from the uIEC. I guess there are fastloaders or something, so I made a diskette from the image.

Loading up the web browser, and going to the default web site.

I tried Google, but got nothing but a blank screen.

I remembered seeing something about a month ago on Hackaday, regarding their “retro” web page edition.

There are other programs, even a web server, but I don’t know how to configure it. There is also a Twitter client, but I haven’t downloaded that one yet.
